Bio: Dr Viral Chauhan graduated from the University of Sheffield, before moving to London for further postgraduate training. While working in private practice across London and Hampshire, he soon developed a passion for restoring patients’ smiles with dental implants. Viral has been trained by some of the country’s top implant surgeons with a highlight being a year long mentorship on Harley Street. Viral has subsequently placed hundreds of implants successfully.

Am I too old for dental implants?

You don’t look a day over 21. If there’s enough bone to place a dental implant, then you should be eligible for this treatment. If there’s not quite enough bone, then extra bone can be created using a bone graft. Our dentists will always do a full assessment of your mouth – including a CT scan – to make sure implants are right for you.

Will I be left without teeth during treatment?

We’d never want to embarrass you. Our dentists will fit a temporary crown or replacement tooth to fill any gaps. This gives your bone enough time to heal around your new implant and secure it without you feeling conscious. Before committing to treatment, we’ll walk you through the entire process.

Is dental implant surgery painful?

Patients are often worried and anxious about pain, rest-assured we will ensure you are comfortable throughout your treatment. Local anaesthetic is used to ensure your procedure is pain-free. Following surgery, you can expect a few days of discomfort, but most patients comment how there is less than expected during their follow up calls! The soreness can easily managed with regular painkillers.

What do I need to do before dental implant surgery?

During your consultation, our dentists will assess your whole mouth. They will screen your gums and bone for any signs of infection. Before proceeding with implant placement, they’ll make sure your whole mouth is fit and healthy. This may require undergoing additional treatment which they will discuss with you.

How long do dental implants last?

Dental implants can last 20 years or more, several factors contribute to their lifespan including; how well they are kept clean and maintained, your general health, habits such as smoking or grinding.

How long does treatment take?

Typically dental implant treatments take between 3-6 months. This can be longer for more advanced treatment that require substantial bone grafting for example. With modern day techniques however immediate implants can often be fitted at the same time that a failing tooth is removed and it may even be possible to fit a temporary tooth while the implant heals!
